Until Tomorrow Mr.Marsworth and Soldier’s Secret: A Comparison

In the book written by Sheila O’Connor Until Tomorrow Mr Marsworth and The soldiers secrets written by Sheila Solomon Klass have things to compare and contrast and the both books share similar themes the main characters demonstrate different perspectives and they share different powers too.

First thing  to contrast is that the main characters are women but in contrast one that is Deborah Sampson(the second book cited main character) disguised as men soldiers to fight for the independence of her country and Kelly(first book cited main character) is fighting to prevent her brother from going to war because she have a big friend that is running in danger in Vietnam. And the perspective of war in Deborah’s way is that she want to fight so hard that she disguised  in an man uniform, but Kelly’s perspective is very different, she is afraid of  her family die because they could be  called to serve the army in the Vietnam War.

The last thing to contrast is that the power of the main characters in both stories are different, in the first book kelly is just an 11 years old and she can encourage her brother to not go fight at Vietnam and study to pass in college, she can’t obligate the brother for not going to war, in contrast Deborah can do what her wants and this affect the story because Deborah is an adult and she can do her own choices in contrast Kelly can’t .

Both books have a theme in common. These books have the same theme that is  courage, this theme fits in both books because, in the first book cited, Kelly encourages her brother to not go to war, because she is afraid to lose her brother Billy in the Vietnam war. The context of  courage in both books is different because in the second book cited the main character Deborah wants to fight for the independence of her country  and Kelly in contrast dont want her brother to fight for her country running the risk of getting killed.

In conclusion, in this essay we compared the theme of both books, the perspective of the main characters and the power of the main characters and in this essay showed us the objective of the characters in both books that could inspire people to like, encourage themselves to achieve their goal.
